Literature Text

I do my best to keep away,
To forbid myself the pleasure,
That I get, from talking to a dear friend.
I lock myself away,
While my soul bleeds slowly like a sobbing child,
Quietly, and without hope
Or love.
The damage I have done is irrevocable,
The hurt I have caused cannot be undone.
I silently scream for those that I love,
To come to me once more,
As I stare nonchalantly at the
cold wooden floor.
As I punish myself slowly,
I yearn for a consoling word,
A faraway hug, from across the seas.
Resisting temptation,
Enduring the pain,
I stand alone
Once more.
